The Master and the Rose / Twardowski in Bydgoszcz
20 July 2018
The Master and the Rose / Twardowski in Bydgoszcz is the activity realised as part of the Bydgoszcz City Hall’s Project “Bydgoszcz Kręci”, by the Czarny Karzeł Foundation. As a result, a music video was created.
The music video will combine new forms of artistic expression with the elements of the traditional legend (a legend of Master Twardowski different from the commonly known ones).
It will thus, on the one hand, feature the symbolic “icons” of the city, both historical and legendary ones, its characteristic “signs”, places and historic places, both existing and non-existing ones (cathedral painting of the Madonna with Rose and the former parish church, St. Idzi’s Church, the convent of Bernardine nuns, the castle, the main square, Długa Street, the Kujawska Gate).
On the other hand – by using the form of musical theatre (with the song lyrics written specifically for this purpose), melodrama, fairy tale and adventure movie (inspired by “The Mysteries of Paris”) – will show the city as the space for being reborn from the fall (material and spiritual) and successful struggle of the good with the evil, and of happiness with misery.
The final message of the music video will defend Bydgoszcz as a good city, a place enabling one to lead a pleasant life (the songs will be of universal character and scope, not being related to any former historical period, but referring to present times as well).
The music video has been written and directed by Professor Zbigniew Mikołejko. The costumes and stage design were created by Marta Filipiak.
The people engaged in the project are:
